This was an absolute joy to do. The lady in question is my Aunty Alicia or Lucia as she was known. It was her birthday around now (January) & I suddenly started to paint this. She would’ve been 89. The little boy is Harry, the only baby she ever had but sadly died before he was even a month old. I decided to put them together forever – and painted a tender smile on her face instead of the sad expression she always had.
